"there are no absolute truths”

this statement, often proclaimed in philosophical debates and everyday conversations, serves as a starting point for discussions about the nature of truth and certainty....

i totally disagree with such a statement, which paradoxically, is itself an untruth...

upon deeper reflection on this matter, we may reach a surprising conclusion: there are only absolute truths, all truths are thus absolute, and therefore, there is no room in existence for half-truths or partial truths...

understand, truths are those things we simply believe to be and that's it.... because if we don't believe 100% in a truth, any tiny percentage of uncertainty that exists is enough to no longer have conviction in this or that truth... which now has become a doubt, or perhaps, at most, an almost truth, which actually isn't a truth...

but fear not, even though all truths are absolute, they are not, in themselves, eternal and universal, even those that are indeed universal truths...

let me explain, truths belong to each person, they are slaves to our knowledge and experiences and to our framework of truths... and thus, only we are their lords and goddesses, their creator gods, and the only ones with the power to bestow and strip them of the title of truth...

what truly makes them truths is their ability to withstand, to be absolute, when confronted by others that want to be truths in their place...

therefore, no truth created by us simply ends and leaves a hole in its place, a crack or an abyss of doubts... they are only dethroned and replaced by other truths that are stronger, greater, and truer, but equally as absolute as their predecessors once were...

to illustrate this dynamic of truth construction, we can consider the scenario of scientific evolution throughout history.... in the past, many absolute truths were accepted without question, such as the idea that the earth was flat or the geocentrism, which placed the earth at the center of the universe...

however, with the advancement of science and the search for and accumulation of new knowledge and evidence, these truths were replaced by others that were more grounded and comprehensive....

furthermore, it is important to note that the construction of new truths does not occur in isolation, but rather in a specific social and cultural context... where other realities, other people, confront us with a possible truth better than the one we carry and protect...

it takes courage to put our truths to the test, to deeply understand each new truth that challenges them...

these others, until then, for us, possible truths, were also built on beliefs and values of another person and the society that influences them, directly affecting the way they are conceived and accepted, and are as absolute to them as ours are to us...

that's why it's impossible to convince someone that what they believe isn't true... because in their reality, it is...

you don't have the same knowledge, the same experiences, that allowed that other truth to be built within you...

each person needs to be able to build, for themselves, a greater truth that can occupy the space of the one that already fills it...

this process takes time, requires the gathering of new materials, and, above all, depends on the will to equip oneself, every day, with better truths and, when faced with one, to be able to see it and accept abandoning the one they used to carry and now only hinders them...

and that's why different cultures can have different belief systems and truths...

thus, maintaining, abandoning, and seeking the absolute truths that are under our domain is a complex and multifaceted journey that involves not only individual rationality but also the collective dynamics of a society and a reality in constant transformation...

by recognizing the relativity and mutability of truths, we open space for dialogue, reflection, and constant learning, essential for progress and evolution...

but there are only absolute truths, everything else is just doubts...
